Hey, thanks @zackgilbert!
You’re not the first person to mention this. :) In trying to push back against the modern trend of notifications everywhere, I might have gone to far.
I did make it so channels with a new topic show up as bold, but that may be too subtle? There’s also no indication of this bubbled up to the space switcher.
Oh no, I didn’t mean it that way! I’m convinced Liminal legitimately isn’t surfacing enough right now–because I’m sensing a pattern with myself and with user feedback like this, that there’s a feeling like “maybe I’m missing something.” And that’s not good! I haven’t decided how to handle it yet, but maybe the first thing is a bubble indicator on the channel with new topics. (And maybe one on spaces with channels with unread topics?)
Oh, regarding the 3 stages, that’s how topic subscriptions work right now:
And those use whatever defaults you’ve set at the channel level. So, you can join a channel but only get notifications if you are mentioned or participating, or if you had a channel (or specific topic even) that was particularly noisy, you could ignore completely.
Ah. Interesting. Okay. Yeah, might be related to my default setting then. Will play around and see.
Thanks @jeremysmithco!
For sure, Zack! I need to do a second pass on the channel and topic subscriptions to make them more clear. They also currently default to “Participating and @mentions” when you join a channel, so it may be better to change that to all activity…IDK. 🤔
