I’m trying to understand some user interaction.
I’ve joined the two public Spaces, and that seems to mean that i automatically join all the channels.
However, IndieRails has a channel “Suggestions” with a button “Join channel”
Why the exception here? Is that something one can setup on a new space?
Hey @whysthatso! Ah, thanks for pointing this out! I made it so space admins could set default channels to be auto-joined by members when they join, but I failed to clarify this on the member side, so they understand what’s happening when they join a space.
In the case of the IndieRails space, I had made the Episode and General default channels, but not Suggestions.
I need to fix this soon, logging it now! 👍
Yeah, that makes sense. I guess it would have been sufficient for me to get a notice upon joining the space, the list of channels that are autojoined, rather than a permanent marker. It depends a bit on how you see the role of the space admin. A permanent marker of an autojoined channel might convey the intend better that the space admin thinks it’s really important for a user to stay in a certain channel and follow the threads?
Ooh, this is good! I like how you’re playing out the social effects! I do intend to elevate/distinguish the role admins and moderators, though I have little to show for that yet. So showing the permanent marker on the channel is probably more philosophically aligned. 👍 I’m going to keep mulling this for a bit, but will work on getting an improvement out soon.
